2nd – 5th grade students can check out 2 books at a time for a two week period.
1st grade students check out one book for a one week period.
Kindergarten students begin checking out books the second semester (after Winter Break). They will check out one book for a one week period. Kindergarten library books remain in the classroom unless students have written permission from parents to bring library books home.
If a book or any other library item is not available because it's already checked-out, see the librarian. The item can be placed on hold.
Books that are desired for more than one week can be renewed unless requested by another person.
There are no fines for overdue books. However, books need to be returned on time. A student cannot check out any more books until the overdue book is either returned or paid for. If a student believes the book may have been returned, he should visit the library to help the library staff look on the shelves. The student should then look both at home and in the classroom. Students will receive notices about overdue books and fines at the end of each nine weeks.
Students are responsible for the materials used in the library or checked out. Do not loan or borrow checked-out materials from each other. Students will be charged the full replacement cost for lost materials. Students are also charged for repairs necessary for damaged materials. Such damage includes water/liquid damage, marking/drawing on the pages, torn and/or torn out pages, broken covers/spines, removed barcodes, and any other damage occuring while the book is checked out to the student. The full replacement cost must be promptly paid for all books that are damaged beyond repair. Any fines that present a hardship to the student should be brought to the attention of the librarian so that a solution will be worked out.
